Rustic Southern Shabby Chic Wedding from Luminaire Foto

My love for this rustic wedding from Luminaire Foto knows absolutely no bounds. It’s what you’d get if you mixed equal parts rustic, Southern, shabby chic, aqua, mint, and pink. Of course, it would have to be mixed in a mason jar – as if there were any other glass that could stand up to the challenge. Add in some rustic signs, stripy straws, burlap table runners, vintage doors as a ceremony backdrop, windowpanes as decor, a gorgeous lace veil and wedding dress, BHLDN shoes, bridesmaids in the sweetest shade of aqua mint, pink peonies, roses too, aqua mint men’s shirts, suspenders, and one heck of a monogrammed burlap aisle runner – and well, this blogger has swooned herself silly! You’ll be swooning too! We didn’t pick it to kick off rustic month for nothing, you know ;)

Danny and Gennifer met through mutual friends. It wasn’t love at first sight by any means, but along the way, something clicked. They went tarpon fishing on their first date.

After dating for only a month, Gennifer moved two hours away. They did the long-distance thing for a while before Gennifer moved back to be closer to him, and eventually moved in. Two dogs, a  bunch of puppies, and a pig (yes, pig. boy do I wish I knew more about this story) later, Danny finally decided it was time to pop the question!!

They’d planned a trip to Savannah that year, and while Gennifer secretly hoped he’d propose around then, Danny had other ideas. She was cooking one night. He was pacing and fidgeting. Thinking nothing of it, Gennifer went about her business. When she left the room at one point, Danny called out that he’d gotten her something to wear on their trip. Thinking it was the long johns she’d insisted she needed the night before, she doubled back to get them from him. That’s when he got down on one knee and proposed!! She cried, and of course, said yes!

{From the Bride} We broke all the rules and saw each other the night before the morning of but only because we planned everything ourselves and still had work to do!! It was the perfect day. The weather wasn’t too hot or cold, or even breezy. While not everything went according to plan – my great-grandmother’s 100-year-old pearls broke while I was getting ready, I almost passed out, and the golf cart taking me to the ceremony door entrance ran out of battery – I was overjoyed with the outcome!! The music of “Bittersweet Symphony Instrumental” rang out as the wedding party started down the aisle, and then, with my dad and maid of honor at my side, I started to cry. Christina Perri’s song “A Thousand Years” started as the vintage doors opened to reveal my father and me. I looked out and saw my fiancé and cried the whole way down the aisle. The ceremony went flawlessly, as did the reception, which was filled with good Southern cooking and wonderful company. There was so much love in the air. All of the days working on the details of this one, very special day couldn’t have produced a better result!!

Your hard work and time most definitely paid off, Gennifer! I loved every bit of your wedding!! It was an honor and a pleasure to share it and your love story too. Best of love and luck to you and Danny!! xoxo

Did you make the aisle runner yourself? I love it, and would love to do something similar for my upcoming wedding!

    • AlexandraAlexandra says

Hi Aimee!! I’m not the bride, I just featured her wedding from Luminaire Foto :) I unfortunately do not have a vendor for the burlap aisle runner. It could very well have been handmade. I’m sure you could recreate with the help of some stencils and paint. Otherwise, I just did a search on Etsy and there are TONS of options on there!! Hope that helps!! xoxo

This is beautiful! I would love to know what your mason jar tags say? I can make out the last part about picking up the other part of the favor before they leave. But what does the top part say? And what was the second half of the favor? thank you!

    • AlexandraAlexandra says

Hi Courtney! I’m not sure on the other half of the favor but after blowing up the picture as much as I could, I do know what the tag says!! “Drink from me now or drink from me later, but before your leave, remember the other half of your favor.” I’m going to take a shot in the dark here and guess (or maybe just suggest) something really yummy for the second half of the favor :) Hope this helps!! xoxo

BEAUTIFUL wedding! Just curious how you got the doors on the isle? Did you have to build the door frame so that they could actually open and close? Thanks!

    • AlexandraAlexandra says

I believe so, yes. From what I can see/tell there is definitely a frame built around the doors for them to swing and also for everything to be anchored into the ground. Hope this helps!! xoxo

    • AlexandraAlexandra says

I’m not sure. The bride didn’t list a designer or store. So sorry I couldn’t be of more help! They really are lovely though.

    • AlexandraAlexandra says

The bride crafted the aisle runner herself with paint and stencils. There are some great shops on Etsy that sell stencils. Hope that helps!
